Use this MS Word sample to get started, or copy and paste from the sample text below: November 26, 2002 Planning Commission Re: Glen Park Marketplace Dear Commissioners: Transportation for a Livable City has reviewed the subject project and makes the following requests:
Transportation for a Livable City is the city's smart growth advocacy organization. It works to support the city's transportation reform organizationsWalk San Francisco, the San Francisco Bicycle Coalition, Rescue Muni, and City CarShare and it promotes smart growth and livable neighborhoods. Transportation for a Livable City agrees with Planning Department staff that a project located adjacent to a BART station and five Muni lines which includes the replacement of a fire demolished modest sized market and a library plus fifteen two bedroom units will have no adverse environmental impact. In fact, we believe that it will have a positive environmental impact. We also believe it will have a positive impact on the quality of life of San Francisco residents. The project will be built within the neighborhood height limits and will include design mitigations to utilize the large available site in an efficient and aesthetic manner. The use of the full available lot size is necessary to provide the space for transit oriented mixed use while meeting most Planning Code requirements for livable residential units. The nearby ample supply of transit and large amount of medium density housing along with the market's agreement to provide delivery service for those who live beyond their comfortable walking distance eliminates the necessity for Planning Code required parking. The fact that most of the space is for a library which generally mostly serves children and elderly further eliminates any "need" for parking. San Francisco desperately needs more housing, yet not the traffic that normally comes with that. Providing housing and services close to transit where parking is not necessary is the best way to begin to build a more livable city. This is a good project! Sincerely,
