Hi-
Amber pointed out that the location of our protest tomorrow wasn't in our blurb: the intersection of Mission and Duboce. Hope to see you tomorrow at 12:30 with your best construction outfit on!
Thanks,
Emily
Hey all,
Come to our protest, please? It is our first in a few years, and we'd love to have loads of folks there. Plus, there is a groovy construction worker theme, so you can be that Village People guy that you always wanted to be! Please forward the blurb below to anybody you think might be interested in showing up.
Thanks,
Emily

Ramp Up Pedestrian Safety! Its Time for Concrete Change
For months now, the crosswalk on the east side of Mission
and Duboce has been closed to pedestrians while construction
crews work on the Octavia Boulevard off-ramp. In the meantime,
you have to cross three busy and dangerous streets at one of
Missions widest points, just to get to the other side. Or if
youre trying to catch a bus, you might play chicken with
the line of cars turning to go to the freeway. Some choice.
By law, pedestrian access must be maintained during
construction. Despite numerous attempts to get DPT to fix the
situation, though, nothing has been done. Not even the
Pedestrian Safety Advisory Committee, San Franciscos official
citizen body for pedestrian issues, has gotten a response.
Plans call for eventual pedestrian improvements at this
intersection, but we wont see them for several months. How
long do we have to wait to cross the street?
Join Walk San Francisco, Senior Action Network, and SWING! on
Tuesday, April 19th, at 12:30 as we demand that DPT restore
pedestrian access at construction projects around the city.
Speakers include Supervisor Chris Daly, Emily Drennen (Acting
Executive Director of Walk San Francisco), and senior advocates
from SAN.
Wear your best construction costume with hard hats,
hand tools, and safety vests!
