NYC-based Reverend Billy (and the Stop Shopping Gospel
Choir) is a friend of Reclaim the Streets and Critical Mass.
He often shows up at the beginning of these events to preach
about the eeevils of cars and sprawling mall development and
such, and to praise public space.  Last Friday he dedicated his
monthly show to fundraising to help the legal defense of NYC
Critical Massers who are being sued by the City of New York.

Victoria Theatre services looming on Saturday and Sunday. A week
of contesting space, violating my court-imposed ban from coming
within 250 yards of Starbucks. We'll perform for brave activists
waiting for us in Wal-Mart parking lots -- it feels like we're
about to roll the bus through a thousand scenes and our only
defense is to sing and shout."
