Mr. Yee,

I hope this note finds you well. I'm writing to inquire about the 
elimination of a double turn lane at California and Kearny Streets 
downtown. The proposal to eliminate the lane was feasible according 
to your department's traffic engineers (so I've heard), but the 
proposal was disapproved by ISCOTT.

As you know, ISCOTT does not have the final authority on the matter. 
Is it your Department's official position to oppose the removal of 
that double turn lane? If not, how do you propose we move forward 
with the idea in the face of ISCOTT's opposition? If so, please be 
aware that eliminating double turn lanes as much as possible is a 
priority of local safety advocates and we would like to work with you 
to understand your opposition and reach agreement on a reversal of 
that position.
