URGENT -- CONTACT SUPERVISOR PESKIN RIGHT NOW!

The controversial proposal to build a Home Depot store on Bayshore
Boulevard is coming back to the Board of Supervisors one more time
today (11/1 at 2:00pm) -- the Board will decide whether to approve
the environmental impact report (EIR) for the project, a
120,000-square-foot store with a 525-car multi-story garage and a
5-lane driveway, and allow the project to move forward as designed.
This project needs to be seriously scaled back and better integrated
into th city's transportation systems -- Bayshore is a key
north-south corridor for bikes (it's a Top 20 Bike Network route),
Muni and yes, autos, and this mega-auto-magnet is a recipe for
transportation trouble.

We understand that Board President Aaron Peskin is the swing vote in
what will likely be a 6-5 decision -- please contact Supervisor
Peskin right now and ask him to reject the EIR for its seriously
deficient appraisal of transportation system impacts -- point out the
absence of consideration for Muni's Prop-K funded Bus Rapid Transit
on Bayshore, and a similar disregard for Bayshore as an
officially-recognized Bicycle Network route linking the Bayview with
neighborhoods to the north:

And do try to come out for the Board of Supes meeting TODAY (11/1,
City Hall, 2:00pm, Supervisors legislative chamber) and give public
comment if you can.

Use your bell,

	--Andy--
