Tim Holt, a freelance writer who's done good stuff on green living
and bike matters for the SF Chronicle, is starting in on a new piece
on how the next Big One could be good for the city -- the '89 quake
knocked down the Embarcadero Freeway and gave us back a beautiful
waterfront, knocked down the Octavia freeway ramps and gave us back
Hayes Valley. He's collecting ideas -- what would you like to see
knocked down or washed away, and what would you like to see in its
place? The Sutro TV tower is a natural, as long as it drops the right
way and doesn't take out too many houses; maybe an array of windmills
or solar collectors takes its place (or perhaps just a native meadow).

Send me your constructive-destructive concepts and I'll get 'em to Tim . . .
