[Carfreeliving] GG Park Concourse previews pedestrian oasis

Go to GG Park right now and check out the "soft opening" of the De
Young and the Tea Garden side of the Concourse -- see the pedestrian
oasis in real life! Human beings on foot! on bikes! in strollers! on
skates! no need for lanes, no need for speed limit, no need for
textured pavement (not that it's got any real texture). Pretty nice,
once the cyclone fence is gone. Of course it'd be swell to keep it
without cars, that skinny "car" travel lane would make a nice
counter-flow bike/skate lane . . .

[I guess I'll leave that "soft opening" thing alone, I don't want to
be sucked into any cheap gags -- "Come visit our soft opening," purrs
FAMSF Chair, we'll save you a parking spot on the Goldworthy" . . .]
