Yes, and to add, J and N riders will get off the shuttle bus at Church
and Market and have to transfer (I assume to duboce and church for the
N) to the N or J.

And I concur, I was SHOCKED to see this will take 1 year, since the
distance is about 2-3 miles? That's about 50 ft/weekday of progress?!?
In our tunnel business, builders can tunnel new subway tunnels at 10-50
feet/day and that includes disposing of the material and supporting the
excavated ground!? I would like to hear an explanation from MUNI of why
this is so complicated, since this shutdown is a huge deal to the
transportation mobility of the city.

fellow carefreetypes... this is more of an FYI... punt at
will.

There's been a lot of confusion over this muni metro shutdown
after 10p amongst me and my compadres... and so I went
'online' and got me some answers:

http://www.sfmuni.com/cms/msc/announce/MetroImprovementProject.htm

Executive Summary:
Muni Metro will not operate after ~9:45pm between 4th and
King and Castro stations on Weekday Nights only.

They are replacing overhead wiring. Why it will take a year
is a bit baffling to me.

All remaining surface Metro will still operate (i.e. N line
out to ocean, or K beyond Castro Station)

Substitute surface bus surface will operate between 4th and
king and Castro Station.

Ride on...
Hitesh
