GEARY CORRIDOR WORKSHOPS

As part of the Transportation Authority's Geary Corridor Bus Rapid
Transit Study, the Transportation Authority and MUNI are holding
public workshops this week for the public to have the opportunity to
comment on conceptual designs aimed at faster travel times, more
reliable service, and improved passenger comfort. The same
information will be presented at each of these workshops, so please
chose the meeting that best fits your schedule and/or language
needs. TLC worked to pass Proposition K in 2003 which will fund bus
rapid transit (BRT) lines across the city, and worked hard last year
to get a first phase of Bus Rapid Transit on Geary. A handful of
cranky merchants are trying to block BRT on Geary, so make your voice
heard!

For more information, please contact Julie Kirschbaum, Project
Manager, at 415-522-4830, or visit www.gearyBRT.org.

ALEMANY BIKE LANES APPROVED BY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS' COMMITTEE

Yesterday, the Board of Supervisors' Land Use Committee recommended
bicycle lanes on two miles of Alemany Boulevard, as part of a
redesign of the road that widens the existing median and removes two
superfluous traffic lanes. The proposal was put forward by Supervisor
Sandoval. The Board of Supervisors will hear the item on Tuesday,
December 13 at 2pm; no public comments will be heard, but you are
encouraged to contact your supervisors and let them know you support
the bike lanes and wider median. You can find your supervisors'
contact info at http://www.sfbike.org/?leaders
